For safety reasons, all vessel movements were suspended last week after 85 containers on a vessel bound for Barcelona fell overboard in the port entrance on Wednesday night.
Following the government’s announcement that, apart from the emergency services, everyone in Sierra Leone will be obliged to stay in their homes for three days from 19 to 21 September 2014, Budd’s local office has confirmed that the ports will be closed on these dates.
During the lockdown, health inspectors will visit the local population to identify any people suffering from Ebola and reduce the risk of contagion. The measure is to be enforced by the military.
