Gabon: Ali Bongo Removed from Presidency by Military

Budd Gabon reports that in the aftermath of yesterday’s televised announcement by a faction of army officers, declaring the nullification of the elections that confirmed Ali Bongo’s presidency, the streets are now heavily patrolled by military personnel. This has caused a complete halt in all commercial operations, including those at the ports of Libreville and Port Gentil.

In this atmosphere of profound uncertainty, marked by what seems to be a potential overthrow of the President, the majority of citizens are refraining from venturing outside due to the prevailing risks.

Furthermore, the army officers have explicitly communicated the temporary closure of all of Gabon’s borders.

Our team is actively monitoring this evolving situation.
