Covid-19: Dakar and Thies Under Curfew

Following a spike in Covid-19 cases, the Senegalese government has re-introduced a curfew in the towns of Dakar and Thies where almost 90% of Senegal’s positive diagnoses have been found.
The curfew runs from 21:00 to 05:00.
It came into effect in the night of 6 January and sparked violent protests among the poorer members of the local population who fear for their livelihoods.
Budd Senegal advises that the curfew may well have repercussions on loading and discharging operations in the port as nighttime deliveries will be impacted and offices will be obliged to close earlier.
Special authorisations will have to be granted to people who are obliged to go out during the curfew.
