China: Port Covid Rules Modified
China’s Ministry of Transport has very recently updated the Covid Prevention Guidelines in sea ports (see the official announcement in Mandarin here).
Inbound vessels are no longer required to provide their crew’s Covid test results before the ship’s call. The crew’s general information and health condition will still need to be submitted before berthing, however.
It should be noted that preventive measures still exist and restrictions vary from port to port but it should now be easier for ship agents and surveyors to board vessels as long as they respect the local regulations.
Vessels intending to call in Chinese ports should check with their agents regarding the relevant Covid quarantine and prevention measures at the time of of their ETA.
