China: Tianjin and Shenzhen ports operating normally despite Omicron spread

Tianjin reported an increase in Covid infections including the Omicron variant.  According to the local authorities, the current Omicron strain is the third generation of this variant, suggesting that it was present for some time before being detected.

More than 4000 employees of Tianjin Port have been tested, and so far the majority of work remains un-impacted with the terminals continuing to operate normally.   At Shenzhen, container operations could be slowed down as the authorities have voiced the possibility that the virus was transmitted via imported goods.

In the face of the complications caused by the tightened Covid restrictions, Budd China continues to serve shipowners and the P&I Clubs and remains at your disposal for any information regarding the port situation in China.
