COVID-19: State of Emergency in Angola

On Wednesday, 25 March 2020, in view of the
COVID-19 virus pandemic, the President of the Republic of Angola declared a
State of Emergency throughout the national territory from 00:00 LT on 27 March
2020 for a period of 15 days, subject to renewal.
According to an official source, a total of 5
COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Luanda with two deaths being reported in
the last 24 hours.
Confinement Measures
All educational establishments and
non-essential shops and businesses are now closed. Food shops, banks, telecommunications and
press services remain open.
Travel from one province or town to another is
only authorized to transport food or in an emergency.
All air, sea and land borders are closed to passengers
with a view to containing the COVID-19 outbreak. There are no commercial flights operating at
Luanda airport.
In the ports
All ports remain open to cargo vessels only.
All crew or stowaway disembarkations are
prohibited but medical evacuations are authorized.
Due to the confinement measures, Budd’s Angolan
staff are working from home.
